Some MBCCers and FoM (friends of MBCCers) have been hard at work producing a play that’s premiering at San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center this July!

FORESIGHT combines traditional stage drama and state-of-the-art digital filmmaking, employing a realtime image-rendering application developed specifically for the play.

When Victor Martinez, a Silicon Valley pioneer, receives a terminal diagnosis shortly before the birth of his daughter, he migrates his personality into an advanced computer that will raise the child in his absence. Upon this backdrop, FORESIGHT examines the exponential pace of technological change and speculates about what it might mean for our lifestyles, our relationships, and our notion of the self.

Shows are on July 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18. Check out www.easilydistracted.com/foresight for ticket info and some cool behind-the-scenes videos about the play’s production.

Mention that you heard about the play through the MBCC eZine at the concession table and get a free cupcake! Offer applies to any friends you bring, too. :)

Facebook . . . Yelp . . . Twitter . . . oh my

While we know that our face-to-face interactions are important, we also know that the internet has helped us grow and develop as a community. So . . . we are trying to find out how to best encourage and support communication here at MBCC and need your feedback. How do you connect in your daily life, with MBCC’ers and what about that eZine? These are just a few of the questions we need answered so we can fine-tune or redirect our communication and social media energies. So, please please please, if you could just take a few minutes to fill out these quick 10 questions that would be really helpful . . . and if God cares about such things, I am sure will be well pleased upon the completion of the survey ;-)

So click here.

Thanks in advance and we’ll see you on Sunday in person!

Would you like to speak to middle school students about your career? MBCC member Kristin Tatum works at AACE Talent Search, a nonprofit that offers tutoring, informational presentations, and educational field trips to encourage low-income students to attend college. We are organizing Career Days at three San Francisco public middle schools and looking for people who are interested in introducing 11- through 13-year-olds to different professions and helping students connect their studies to possible future careers. There will be a Career Day at Roosevelt Middle School in the Richmond District on February 17, Francisco Middle School in North Beach on March 17, and Denman Middle School in the Excelsior on March 24. Each Career Day is from about 9 to noon and each speaker would speak to two classes of students for about 20 minutes each. If you are interested in speaking at one of these events or have any questions, please contact Kristin Tatum. (Speakers are more than welcome to speak at more than one event, but certainly not expected to do so.) Email Kristin to volunteer or if you have more questions. Thank you!
